In-person Summer Art & Crafts Classes for Children
Nicole’s Art Spot Summer Program offers children week-long in-person intensive arts and crafts classes and workshops. Class sizes are limited to 6 kids. Parents can also schedule individual or small group-classes.

Schedule an Individual or Small Group Session
Children choose an art or craft project and work at their own pace. They decide what they want to do, receive one-on-one attention and I provide the supplies. I encourage parents and caregivers to join these sessions as well! Individual instruction costs $45 per hour per family. For now, classes will be held outside and will follow CDC recommendations and safety guidelines. We will wear masks and practice social distancing. There is a large shady backyard at my studio building with trees and grass where several tables will be set up six feet apart. If the CDC changes its protocols and deems it safe to move indoors classes take place inside my air-conditioned art studio.
Registration is flexible, sign up for the weeks and classes that interest you. The weekly program runs Monday through Friday starting July 5 through August 31. There is no program offered during the week of August 23rd through August 27th.

Kids will explore a variety of art and craft media: painting and drawing, wood, tie dye or painting a t-shirt with colorfast fabric paints, cardboard and wire sculpture; printmaking and collages, mosaics with glass tiles, air dry clay, sewing stuffed animals and pillows, wet felting, silk painting, paper mache, painting a canvas and/or bulletin board and much more. We may also do artwork inspired by Modern artists such as Monet, Picasso and Matisse The first day kids can choose from two art and craft projects to do. Future class projects will be discussed the first day and projects for the rest of the week will be tailored to the children's interests. (ages 5-9)

Explore a variety of art and craft media: painting, drawing, wood, cardboard and wire sculpture, printmaking, mosaics, collages, sewing simple stuffed animals and pillows, wet felting, clay, fabric andsilk painting, tie dye, paper mache, beaded jewelry, painting a bulletin board or make a clothes pin mirror and much more. The first day children will have a choice of projects they can do and project choices for the following days will be tailored to the children's interests. (ages 8-10)

Take an imaginary trip to the zoo and create 2D and 3D animal-themed art projects. Make papier mâché animals and animal masks. Sew felt and fleece stuffed animals by hand. Sculpt your favorite animal using air-dry clay, and use cardboard wire and other recyclables to build a monster, animal or other funky creature. Create paper collages inspired by Eric Carle’s books and practice drawing animals from photographs. (Ages 5 – 8)

Calling all Eric Carle fans! Kids create artwork inspired by their favorite children’s books such as Where the Wild Things Are, Rainbow Fish, Pete the Cat, Monsters Love Trouble, Leaf Man, Elmer the Elephant, Harold and the Purple Crayon, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and more. We’ll paint textures on paper and make collages as Eric Carle did, paint on pre-cut paper leaves and use a watercolor resist technique to make a leaf man, and use colored tissue paper to decorate rainbow fish and Elmer the elephant. We'll create monsters like the wild things and collages with dots and drawings using a purple crayon. Each day we'll explore a two books, read each aloud and enjoy art projects inspired by that book. (Ages 4-7)
